March’s Book Club Choice: ‘You are a Badass’

So I’m continuing my New Year’s Resolution to read at least one book per month, and of course doing that through a monthly book club!  I hope you all are picking up some good reads this year and following along with me as well!

A quick recap on last month’s book and our takeaways: ‘The Five Love Languages’ is fantastic.  It truly opens your eyes on how to better communicate with your partner and make him or her feel loved.  Probably the biggest takeaway for the group however was the fact that the love languages can change depending on who you have in mind when taking the quiz (think your parents, your friends, etc.), and therefore it can be of assistance in more than just romantic relationships.  Additionally, no matter who you have in mind, the results can vary depending on the time in your life that you take the quiz… for instance, if you’re feeling overwhelmed everywhere in your life, Acts of Service may be the language that really fills your “love tank” but later on when life settles down and you feel more calm, maybe Words of Affirmation will mean the most.  Therefore, being open to constant change is imperative and being willing to adapt to others love languages is a necessity.

March’s book: ‘You are a Badass: How to Stop Doubting Your Greatness and Start Living an Awesome Life’ by Jen Sincero.  I’ve heard nothing but amazing things about this book and have already heard from a few members who’ve started reading that the first few pages have them hooked!  Needless to say, I’m excited to read an entertaining book that is equal parts affirming and kick-in-the-pants!

P.S. I also purchased ‘You are a Badass at Making Money’ by Sincero and I’m excited to read that one too (though it won’t be part of the Book Club.)

P.P.S.  I always wonder about book pricing because I’m one of those people who needs a physical book to mark-up… I can’t just read on a tablet.  This time around, I paid attention and noticed that Target often has 30% off books which ends up being the same rate you can find when purchasing with Amazon Prime… so if you are at Target, you probably can’t find the book for cheaper (unless you get it used) so snag it there, but otherwise, ordering online through Amazon is just as cost effective.

What books are you reading and loving this year?  Let me know! I need more Book Club suggestions!
