So I’m not even going to lie to you… I had every intention of reading last month’s Book Club book, ‘Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine,’ but… well, the month got away from me. What have I been so busy with? Life. Just about everything. We are heading to Europe on Monday and there’s always tons of preparations for that. We are moving just a couple days after we get back from vacation, so the house needs to be almost entirely packed up before we head out. New work stuff (which is awesome, just added time.) Friend and family stuff. Trying to see my friends here as much as possible before I move away and will be more than a 20 minute drive from them. Just all kinds of things.
I’ve read about a quarter of April’s book and thus far I like it. It is not the type of book I normally read, and Eleanor is different than most people I know, so it is rather interesting. The writing style is also pretty great; somehow Gail Honeyman makes it easy for the reader to connect with and root for Eleanor, which I love. But, that’s really all I can say since I have you know… most of the book to read still. I will update you on my final thoughts once I’ve actually finished the book. I also don’t have a May book to report at this time… stand by. Perhaps I’ll finish my Eleanor Oliphant book while traveling and find another good read in a bookshop abroad??
Because I’m moving I’m no longer going to be able to hold Book Club, though I’ve heard rumblings that my group may continue on in my absence which would be kind of cool. It was a New Year’s Resolution of mine to read at least 12 books this year (1 per month), so I do still plan on continuing in that direction… I just won’t have Book Club as a motivation. Damnit. Once a month, look for whatever book I’m reading in the ‘Lifestyle’ section of my blog, and you all can be my virtual Book Club group!
Thanks for reading my ramblings. If you have any book suggestions for me to read this year, please comment below!
