This photo — and the rest Esther McKenzie — shot were just so special and so “us” in the comfort of our then home.
On this fine Mother’s Day morning, as I lay here in bed watching the sunrise and listening to the birds, I wanted to wish all the moms out there a fantastic and loving Mother’s Day where you feel beyond celebrated… or at the very least, I hope you get a moment to reflect in gratitude. As a mom, I know (as cliché as it sounds) it is the best and hardest job in the entire world… and man do I feel blessed to be one. Like literally, there’s nothing more I love than being a mommy to Baby E (the most magical child in all the world… but I’m biased of course haha.)
I think @raisingwellkids said it best, “Happy Mother’s Day to all the mothers, the mothers who are no longer with us, the soon-to-be mothers, the mothers with babies in heaven, the step-mothers, the chosen mothers, the mothers who adopt, who foster, who surrogate, the women yearning to be mothers… we’re thinking of you.” I’m thinking of you today.
But I wanted to also take a moment to remind you — if you are a mom in some way — to take a picture with your kid if possible. The Busy Toddler coined getting a “proof of mom pic” because as much as we want to document every aspect of our kid’s childhood, we are a huge — and in a lot of cases THE biggest — part of it. So grab someone to take a picture, or at the very least, take a selfie with your little one (99.9% of my photos with Enzo are Snapchat selfies) so you can look back one day and say, “this was Mother’s Day 2023 and it meant so much to me.” I guarantee you will never regret having the photos and these amazing people we get to help grow, will cherish them one day.
And if you see a mom with her kids today, ask if she’d like a pic?! She will most likely take you up on it… and who knows? It might have been quite some time since anyone offered to have her in front of the camera instead of behind it. 🙂
P.S. I will be getting a “proof of mom” pic today with my little one, but in the meantime, below are a few Enzo and Mommy selfies from the last six months or so.
