Speaking of styles coming back into fashion… the denim skirt is becoming quite popular once again. Admittedly, when I first saw this look as I paged through magazines and in some of my favorite brands’ ads, I was immediately turned off. Like really?! This again. But, I’ve come around to it because denim skirts have been re-imagined… they’re not just “the shortest piece of denim tubing with a button and zipper to appear to be a skirt” that they once were.
Denim skirts in 2018 are much like jeans… often distressed, frequently casual, able to be dressed up or down, looser fitting, high waisted (or at least higher than we had grown accustomed to in the early 2000s), and like fine wine… they’ve simply matured over time. There’s a balance between the short short miniskirts we once wore as teenagers, and the overly long, stiff “mom” skirts we saw anyone over 30 wearing.
Living in California, I’m actually quite excited to sport a denim skirt this Spring… whether with a casual t-shirt and cute sneakers for running errands, dressed up a bit with a tight-fitting long sleeve shirt and booties for a night out, or brunch-ready with sandals and a breezy sweater. When you keep an open mind when it comes to all things fashion, the possibilities are truly endless!
P.S. In life I don’t love super faded denim (you know that look that’s nearing white but not quite there yet), so you won’t see much of that below though there are a few skirts that come in other shades.

Have you purchased a denim skirt yet? What are your thoughts? Sometimes it seems crazy to bring back old trends, but this one is really growing on me! Do you still have any of your old denim skirts just waiting to be re-revealed to the world??
